Green Strategies for Building Design (ARC61804)

This module has enhanced my understanding of sustainability by encouraging a holistic approach to building design. Through analysing multiple case studies and evaluating their environmental strategies, I gained insight into how passive design, material selection, and site-responsive planning can reduce energy consumption and improve comfort. The exercises emphasized the importance of integrating ecological, social, and climatic considerations rather than treating sustainability as an add-on. Learning to assess different buildings critically allowed me to appreciate the variety of strategies architects can employ, from natural ventilation and daylighting to water management, reinforcing the role of thoughtful design in creating resilient, sustainable environments.
